State Boards are education boards established by the state government to regulate and oversee the education system within the state. The syllabus for State Board exams is determined by the state government’s education department, which sets the curriculum and academic standards for students in that state. It is essential for students to study the State Board syllabus thoroughly and revise regularly to perform well in these exams.
Class 10 Exam:
Samacheer Kalvi is the state board education system in Tamil Nadu. The exam is conducted by the Directorate of Government Examinations, Tamil Nadu. Students must obtain a minimum of 35% in each subject to pass the exam. The class 10 exam of Samacheer Kalvi follows a nine-point grading system, which ranges from A1 (highest grade) to E (lowest grade).
State Board Exam Pattern:

- The exam consists of six subjects, which include Tamil, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, and one optional language (usually Hindi, French, or Urdu).
- The duration of the exam is three hours for each subject.
- Each subject is assessed out of a total of 100 marks. The marks are divided into two parts: theory (80 marks) and practical (20 marks).
- The exam consists of both objective and subjective type questions. Objective questions are multiple-choice questions, and subjective questions require a descriptive answer.

B1 grade: 71-80 marks
B2 grade: 61-70 marks
C1 grade: 51-60 marks
C2 grade: 41-50 marks
D grade: 33-40 marks
E1 grade: 21-32 marks
